2ND aNNUAL
Stop, Drop & Run 5K


We are partnering with the Timberville Volunteer Fire Department for our 2nd Annual Stop, Drop & Run 5K. The 5K will start and end at the Plains District Community Center. Strollers and dogs (on leashes) are welcome, ages 12 and under are free! All proceeds will benefit the Timberville Volunteer Fire Department. Pre-register by September 30 to receive a t-shirt.
Fee $25, Ages 12 & Under Free

Fall Community Yard Sale


Register now for a space at our yard sale! Spaces are approximately 18’x18’. Tables and electricity are not provided. Food and craft vendors are welcome! This event will take place rain or shine. Check-in and set-up will be from 6-7:30am ONLY. General admission is FREE.
Fee $15 | Register By September 13

GAME ON! Photo Contest


Submit a photo you have taken over the last year getting your “GAME ON!” at any Rockingham County Parks and Recreation activity. Photos will be grouped into 4 categories: Athletics, Trips, General Programs and Special Events. Deadline to submit photos will be Friday, July 19. We will determine the category winners by Wednesday, July 24. Winning photos will be displayed on the cover of our fall Activities Guide. Winners will receive a $20 gift certificate to be used for any of our programs or activities. Submit your photos by emailing them to recreation@rockinghamcountyva.gov with the subject “Photo Contest” or send them to our Facebook page.


SPOT The Rock Contest


“S”ee the Rock, “P”ost the location on Facebook, “O”pen yourself to your amazing surroundings and “T”reat yourself to the recreational opportunities. To celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month in July, we will be posting pictures on Facebook of “SPOT”, our newly adopted department rock at different recreational locations around Rockingham County. Each Monday, look for the picture of “SPOT” then comment with your guess on where “SPOT” is pictured. Guess the location correctly to be entered to win an exciting prize each week. Winner will be selected at random from all correct guesses each Friday.

Mobile Food Pantry
Need Groceries? If you need food assistance, we can help. Food will be distributed on the second Thursday each morning from 10am-12pm at Plains District Community Center in Timberville. This is open to everyone and no paperwork is needed. This service is co-sponsored with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and MARTIN’S Family Foundation.
