YOUTH Athletics

girls basketball

Girls’ basketball seasons will return to regular team play in 2022! The season will begin with a minicamp hosted by your local high school coaches and players the week of September 26th. This will be a 4-day minicamp focused on drills and skills for them to take into the season. After the minicamp, players will be divided onto teams and will start practicing on October 3rd. Teams will have two practices per week, with two games on Saturdays. Games will begin on October 15th and run through November 5th with each team playing a double header on all the Saturdays except November 5th. Each player will receive an RCPR reversible jersey.
Fee $40 | Register By September 16
Grades: 2-3, 4-5 & 6-8 (grade as of 2022-2023 school year)

coed basketball clinic

Clinics will take place on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University (at Yoder Arena) and will be orchestrated by the EMU men’s and women’s basketball programs including their coaches and players. This will increase the quality of instruction, provide a much better player to coach ratio and a perfect facility to foster basketball skills development. This will be the only clinic for grades K-2nd, 2nd graders are also eligible to sign up in their respective recreation basketball league. All participants will receive a shirt.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Teams will have two practices per week, with games on Saturdays. Games will begin on November 19th and run through December 18th with each team playing a double header on all the Saturdays except December 18th. There will be no games on November 26th. Each player will receive an RCPR reversible jersey.

junior scientists: all about animals

Can you explain the differences between mammals and reptiles? Or do you know which mammals live in the sea? In Snapology's Junior Scientists: All About Animals class, your little zoologists will be able to answer these questions in no time! They will learn all about the differences between vertebrates and invertebrates, warm-blooded and cold-blooded creatures, reptiles and mammals, and so much more while playing creatively with LEGO® DUPLO® bricks. Your child will be too busy exploring the animal world to realize that they are gaining critical social, motor, and developmental skills. Riverside Farm is located at 387 Old Bridgewater Road, Mt. Crawford Virginia.

Junior engineers

Does your little learner love to tinker and create new things? If so, they’re going to love Snapology’s Junior Builders program! This four week program will give your learner opportunities to build functional DUPLO® models of amusement park rides, boats, ramps, cars and so much more! As your learner works alongside other little engineers, they will be learning the importance of teamwork and how collaboration is an essential component of engineering and design. This program will introduce even the newest of students to a safe, collaborative, and creative classroom environment.

gamebot robotics with lego spike prime part 1

Calling all gamers! Have a blast learning how to code while building robotic games to test your code in this five week program. Students will learn about sequencing commands, value and sensor inputs, and loops. Whether creating a robotic hockey player, pinball machine, or a ring toss, your child is sure to have fun building, learning, and playing. We will be using our new LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime robotic sets which provides an intermediate level of robotics building and programming.

toddler & caregivers abcs & 123s

Learning is so fun together! Young children will learn their colors, shapes, letters and numbers using DUPLO® bricks and other interactive learning methods including songs, stories, and games during this fun program. To strengthen their knowledge in a playful manner, children are engaged in both structured and imaginative play during each session. This four-week class is for toddlers ages 1-3 years old with a caregiver staying to play & learn together. Riverside Farm is located at 387 Old Bridgewater Road, Mt. Crawford Virginia.

ROBOPETS ROBOTICS WITH LEGO SPIKE PRIME PART 1

In this five week course, your builder will begin their exploration into the world of LEGO® robotics by building simple, animal-inspired machines that are controlled by icon-based program codes. We will teach your little learner some fundamental engineering and programming concepts as they build goofy animals and design perfect habitats to protect their new robotic friends. Maybe you can't have an alligator as a pet at home, but you can definitely build one in our classroom at Snapology!

PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES

In this four-week class students will explore the world of transportation and build LEGO® models of their favorite forms of transportation as they learn about physics, energy, wheels and axles, air resistance, and more in a fun, easy to understand way. They will also learn about the history and modern use of these vehicles, and apply this knowledge to their builds, all while having fun, collaborating with partners, and practicing presentation skills.
