This is a 10-mile bike ride leaving and returning to Mole Hill Bikes. This all paved route will take you through beautiful Shenandoah Valley farming country and across the local landmark "Mole Hill". Parking is free at the shop and you are welcome to park and ride anytime. The shop has complimentary water and restrooms during business hours, and there is a 24/7 repair stand and inflation center outside of the shop.
The Battle of Cross Keys was part of Stonewall Jackson’s Valley Campaign and took place on June 8, 1862. Confederate successes on the field kept two Federal armies from uniting. Cross Keys saw one of the most effective uses of Confederate artillery during the war.
The Battle of Port Republic was part of Stonewall Jackson’s Valley Campaign and took place on June 9, 1862. This victory concluded the first Valley Campaign and enabled Jackson’s army to leave the Valley to aid in Richmond’s defense.

Breneman-Turner Mill was built around 1800 by Mennonite pioneer Abraham Breneman and is the only surviving pre-Civil War mill in Rockingham County with all the grist mill equipment still in place.

View Map The Elk Run Cemetery has graves of 48 Confederate soldiers, both Civil War veterans and those killed in battle. These are marked. There is also an area in Section 6 that is a 'slave graveyard'. This is designated with an inscribed stone marker. The cemetery is located at the end of East Rockingham Street in Elkton, just past the Miller Kite House Museum.
Fort Harrison, also known as "The Daniel Harrison House", was built in 1749 by Daniel Harrison, the first settler in Dayton. Daniel was the brother of Thomas Harrison, founder of Harrisonburg. The two-story stone house is located on Cook's Creek just north of downtown Dayton. The house is on the National Historic Register.

Grand Caverns is a powerful example of Nature's handiwork. Cathedral Hall, 280 feet long and over 70 feet high, is one of the largest rooms of any cavern in the East. In addition to the caverns, other activities to be enjoyed while at the park are hiking, picnicking, swimming (seasonal) and mini golf (seasonal). Be sure to call to make your group's reservation!

Come visit the 1822 home of Brethren minister and herbal practitioner Elder John Kline who was martyred during the Civil War. You will learn more about the history of Elder John Kline and the Brethren church in the Shenandoah Valley.
