[ARCHIVED] New Zoning Ordinance

On October 1st a new, more user-friendly Zoning Ordinance took effect in Rockingham County. The new Zoning Ordinance has an improved organization, defined standards and requirements for various types of development and businesses, and, to allow more flexibility in developing properties, new Zoning Districts are now available for consideration. The new Zoning Ordinance can be reviewed in the Office of the Department of Community Development. Regulations for specific districts can also be accessed through the Rockingham County on-line GIS system.

This new Ordinance, many years in the making, was developed with the input and involvement of Citizen Advisory Committees, Staff, the Planning Commission, and the Board of Supervisors. It incorporates suggestions, comments and ideas from community members with a wide range of interests and experience.
