Posted on: March 29, 2013

[ARCHIVED] The restoration of the historic birth and death records is complete.

The conservation and preservation was completed by Kofile, a Kodak company based in Dallas, Texas and represented by Caskie Graphics, a Lynchburg, Virginia based company. Births and deaths are not records that have been kept by this office for more than a decade since the establishment of a statewide agency. The eight restored volumes complete the series of birth and death records and are one of the most sought-after records by genealogists. These records along with wills and marriage licenses dating back to 1777 complete a series that will serve this community for centuries to come.

The records now preserved will be imaged in-house and will be available on our computer system for searching and viewing.

Births: 1862-1894; 1862-1870 A-Z; 1870-1894 A-K; 1870-1894 L-Z; 1870-1873; 1884-1894
Deaths: 1870-1894 (six volumes); 1870-1894 (five volumes)
