Rick Chandler

Supervisor Chandler was elected to the Board of Supervisors beginning January 1, 2014, with his current term expiring December 31, 2025. As a member of the Board, he serves on the following committees: Buildings and Grounds, Automobile, Augusta-Rockingham Liaison Committee, Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, Technology Committee and the Community Criminal Justice Board.


 Additionally, Supervisor Chandler is a member of the Port Republic Cemetery Board of Trustees, a member of the Industrial Commercial Ministries (ICM) Board and is a certified chaplain, and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
 
 Supervisor Chandler was the 2012 recipient of the Lifelong Public Servant of the Year Award, presented by James Madison University Department of Political Science, School of Public & International Affairs, and College of Arts & Letters.
 
 Supervisor Chandler retired from the Town of Dayton where he served as Public Works Director for five years and Town Manager for 23 years. During his time with the Town, Supervisor Chandler served on the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Regional Sewer Authority, including serving as Chairman. He was also a member of the Virginia Local Government Management Association from 2000 to 2012.
 
 Supervisor Chandler is a lifelong resident of the County, and he resides in Port Republic with his wife, Cheryl. He and his wife have been married since 1982, and have two children, Bradley and Jessica. 
 
 District 3 includes the town of Grottoes and the communities of Keezletown, Port Republic, Melrose, Massanetta Springs, Cross Keys, and a portion of Penn Laird.
