2. Marriage Affidavit Process

   If both parties cannot appear in a Clerk’s Office at the same time to complete the marriage application to get a marriage license, an affidavit may be completed and will need to be signed in front of a notary.*  This process will take longer than applying in person to get your license so please plan accordingly if you have a desired date for the ceremony to allow time for the process to receive your license. 

    

   After completing the online application, please enter the name that was entered during the Checkout process along with dated submitted and both party names. Please enter an email address for both parties in case we have questions regarding the information entered. If emails are not provided on this form or on the application and the information submitted was not complete, an affidavit will not be issued until resolved. 

    

   *This specific process cannot be used for inmates due to the mail process. Please visit our office or contact us at 540-564-3126 or 540-564-3124 for the process for inmates at our local Rockingham-Harrisonburg Regional Jail.
